Overview

Demmi is a B2C mobile marketplace designed to make local food more accessible. By connecting customers directly with nearby producers—starting with farmers, and soon expanding to butchers and greengrocers—Demmi helps people discover and buy high-quality, seasonal food from their region. The platform launched in Cambridge, UK, with an invite-only beta to test the full system end-to-end.

Solution

Demmi features a customer-facing mobile app (iOS and Android) where users can browse, order, and learn more about the produce available from local vendors. On the other side, producers use the Demmi Vendor Portal to manage stock, listings, and orders.

The user experience is intentionally minimal and transparent, focusing on fresh food, locality, and trust. Rather than building a generic grocery app, Demmi was designed around the way small producers operate—seasonally, personally, and flexibly. This is reflected in the visual design, language, and flow of both the customer and vendor experiences.

Results

Demmi has already gained early traction in the Cambridge food community, with a growing network of vendors ready to participate. The initial beta provided valuable feedback across both sides of the marketplace, helping shape features like flexible stock availability, simplified checkout, and producer storytelling. Demmi is on track to become a trusted digital layer for the local food economy—empowering producers while helping customers eat more seasonally, locally, and consciously.
